Loyal and committed to those communities that have shaped his life, Carmelo presented a grant to Syracuse University for a newly-planned basketball practice facility. The facility, which will bear his name, is slated to open within the next few years. The donation by Carmelo is the largest contribution by a current professional athlete to his former school. In 2003, Carmelo led Syracuse to its first National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Men’s Basketball Championship.
