Eight Fathers & Children will Receive Free Haircuts on June 15th Thanks to Nuggets’ Forward
Denver, CO – The Carmelo Anthony Foundation today announced that eight fathers and children will receive free haircuts at Carmelo Anthony’s Studio 15 (www.Studio15Barbershop.com) on Monday, June 15th in celebration of Father’s Day on June 21st. The fathers and children participate in local programs provided by the Colorado Promoting Responsible Fatherhood Initiative. This event is a continuation of the Foundation’s monthly “15 on the 15th” program in which Melo utilizes his barbershop to help disadvantaged children and underserved adults.
From approximately 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., eight fathers and their children will receive haircuts at Studio 15, located at 1740 Blake Street in Denver’s LoDo District. In addition to the haircuts, they will receive a personal care gift bag with grooming products, courtesy of TIGI Haircare. The Foundation’s June program is made possible through a partnership with Maryland-based Maroon PR (www.MaroonPR.com) and Studio 15’s General Manager Lewis Griffin will oversee the event.
In October 2006, the Colorado Department of Human Services, Colorado Works Division was awarded a federal grant over five years to strengthen father/child relationships and improve parenting. Colorado is one of only two locations nationwide, including Washington, D.C., to receive this federal community access grant. The Responsible Fatherhood Initiative distributes more than $1.1 million in community awards to state, community and faith-based organizations to assist in providing direct services to fathers and families. Twenty-eight programs are currently funded by this Initiative.
Melo launched the “15 on the 15th” program in January 2009 as another way for his Foundation to serve the Denver community. On the 15th of each month, the Foundation selects a different Denver community organization the beneficiary of the program. To date, Family Resources Center, Denver Children's Home, Excelsior Youth Center, the William E. Cope Branch of Boys and Girls Club of Metro Denver and Senior Support Services have benefitted from this monthly event.

About The Carmelo Anthony Foundation
In 2005, Carmelo Anthony established the Carmelo Anthony Foundation as the vehicle for which he and his family would give back to the community through a variety of outreach programs and donations. The Foundation’s mission is to invest in programs and community organizations that empower and provide opportunities for underserved children and families. Since joining the Nuggets in 2003, Melo has been an active member of the Colorado community. Among his many activities include purchasing tickets to Nuggets’ home games for less fortunate families; hosting an annual holiday event entitled “A Very Melo Christmas” in which he provides presents and a day of activities for disadvantaged children; and the “15 on the 15th” haircut program at Studio 15.
