“On May 15th as you know we participated in the Carmelo Anthony Studio 15 event. Wow, I wish you could have heard how happy my people were when they returned to the shelter. So many things are taken for granted and something like a hair cut can be immeasurable… Our members have very little and have come to appreciate so much. Please know that the event was so important to not only their self esteem but also their sense of fun. We are very grateful!”
- Molly Ream, Director of Development from Senior Support Services
Established in 2005, The Carmelo Anthony Foundation is the vehicle by which Carmelo and his family give back to the community through a variety of outreach programs and donations. The Carmelo Anthony Foundation's mission is to invest in programs, leaders and community organizations that empower and provide opportunities for underserved children and families in Carmelo’s home communities.

In honor of Older American’s Month in May, The Carmelo Anthony Foundation’s “15 on the 15th” program provided 15 elderly adults from Senior Support Services in Denver with free haircuts from the professional staff at Melo’s Studio 15 barbershop on May 15th. The group of senior citizens were greeted by four members of the Nuggets Dance Team, along with Nuggets’ Community Ambassador Ervin Johnson, and received Nuggets’ playoff gift bags.
In addition to the haircuts and Nuggets items, each senior received a personal care gift bag courtesy of TIGI Haircare. The Foundation partnered with the accounting firm of Gelfand, Rennert and Feldman, L.L.P to make May’s event possible.
Established in 1976, Senior Support Services is dedicated to making each day better and safer for Denver’s low-income and homeless seniors by providing the resources and support they need to lead more self-sufficient and fulfilling lives.
The program was covered by the FOX and NBC affiliates in Denver, as well as with a photo in the Denver Post and a video on DenverPost.com. Please view the video below.
In addition to his status as a superstar on the basketball court, Carmelo excels off the court in his efforts to improve communities and positively impact the way of life for disadvantaged children and families through his philanthropic efforts. The Giving Back Fund is the premier philanthropic resource for the sports and entertainment communities. In 2006, the organization named Carmelo eighth on a list of 30 celebrity philanthropists in America in their “The Giving Back 30” report. He was the only basketball player on this list, and was joined in the top tier by celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey and Tiger Woods. Carmelo was recognized for making charitable donations in excess of $4 million for projects in his hometown of Baltimore, Maryland and Syracuse, New York.
